Spain: Granada

Spain: Granada

In my summer travels, Granada was my favorite city in Spain. It was such quaint place nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains in southern Spain.  It was one of the easiest city to explore on foot without the need of public transportation. Even with hundreds of visitors roaming the streets, it never felt overwhelming or crowded. I enjoyed soaking up the all the sights and sounds of the Spanish culture around me. The unique alleyways, shops, cafes, plazas and the scenic overlooks made this lovely place worth the visit even if only for a short stay.

There is a significant Arab influence in Granada which is not seen as much in the rest of Spain. The city's main attraction is most definitely a 13th century Arabic palace called the Alhambra. The beautiful detail throughout this huge fortress was stunning. If I could pick only one city in Spain to return one day, it would be Granada.

Enjoy.
